Kuala Lumpur Luxury Hotels - Finding the Right One!
The first thing you have to find out before looking for a grand hotel in Kuala Lumpur is where you want to stay. There are several areas around Kuala Lumpur which have different atmospheres, but one thing these places all have in common is the easy access with public transport systems.
If you are considering into staying close to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) area, there are several 4 and 5 star hotels there, such as Mandarin Oriental KL, or Shangri-La Hotel KL. Some of the Kuala Lumpur luxury hotels stands out in terms of interior and overall design. For example, if you are looking for a really sophisticated, retro place to stay, there is Hotel Maya KL; or, for instance, for a Japanese high-class culture feel, there is Hotel Nikko KL.
The great thing about staying in this area is its location. Located nearby are several of the international embassies, business centres, and also entertainment centre. Just a short distance away from these hotels is one of Kuala Lumpur’s most prominent landmarks, the Petronas Towers, which is the twin skyscrapers co-joined to Suria KLCC. There is a convention centre here as well, and the Petronas Philharmonic Hall, an aquarium, a huge park, and a massive shopping centre filled with international brands complete with entertainment centres like a cinema.
There are also many premier hotels around the Bukit Bintang area, like the Grand Millennium KL, JW Marriott Hotel and many others. If you are looking for something different, this area also has its own uniquely themed hotels, like Hotel Istana, which is nicely furnished - comfortable and contemporary, but with hints of a Sultanate palace.
Bukit Bintang area is a slightly different from KLCC area, as its streets are filled with shopping complexes, shops and stores, restaurants, lights and people. Bukit Bintang is a hot spot at night, and here you can see people from all walks of life. The malls are impressive, and you can find many discounted items and bargains. There are a number of upscale stores and restaurants here too, and some great places to party or chill the night away would be Changkat Bukit Bintang.
Other areas of KL you could book is around Petaling Street area. However, there aren’t many luxury hotels around here, with the exception of the four-star Ancasa Hotel & Spa KL. But there are some excellent markets here, like the very lively Petaling Street market and also Central Market. On the outskirts of the central town area there is Mid Valley City, or Petaling Jaya. Though these aren’t necessarily quieter, and are more suited for business stays around those areas.
