If you travel north from Kuta you will find Seminyak which is a more refined area of Kuta. Seminyak is a more classy vacation destination in Bali, and is geared towards the couple and family holiday makers. You’ll find this district of Kuta much quieter and laid back. There are no groups of young people floating around drinking and making a nuisance of themselves. That said staying in one of the Seminyak hotels is not boring, there is lots of entertainment on offer, but is more refined and intimate. Accommodation is often mid to top end and although it’s a lot more pricey the bargain hotels of South Kuta, the rates are very reasonable for the service and quality that you receive as a tourist.

Watch out for the monkeys, they are all over Bali and will snatch anything that is hanging lose and easy to grab including your glasses. If they do happen to snatch something ensure that they’re not sitting next to a cliff and throw down some food. The monkeys will drop your item and go after the food. Even though most travelers are warned far too many don’t listen and finish up losing things, sometimes even expensive jewellery.
