Electric Scooters to the rescue

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

With the doom and gloom on the economy expected to continue to next year and perhaps will remain in the next 2 years have caused consumers to cut down on their spending. One of the big ticket items is actually transportation, in this case our private own cars which could leave a big dent on our monthly budget if the price of crude oil continues to be unpredictable. With rising living cost and job uncertainties, these are the things that we can possibly cut down. One of the ways to reduce our reliance on cars is to use alternative transportation such as public transport or electric vehicles eg. Electric scooter or bike. Electric scooters are particularly suitable for single working adult who live between 1-10 miles from their office. The price of an electric scooter is not expensive ad it ranges from £300-£3,000 depending on the type and model. Not only that it reduces the need for fuel consumption, it’s also friendly to the environment and I think it’s about time we do something for mother nature after all these years of taking from her. Electric scooters, which run on batteries that can be recharged from a domestic socket, are predicted to take off this year, as the price of fuel leaves many commuters with increasingly high transport costs. Zooming at 40 to 50 km per hour (about 20 miles) doesn’t seem like real speed these days especially with some modern sports cars and bikes that are capable to do 300-400 km an hour. But what if you do not need to pay for gasoline anymore to travel at the lower speed. I think most working class people wouldn’t mind the slower pace but could save hundreds or thousand of dollars per year on fuel is worth it all especially during the current economy climate. Well the good news is that we can do that now especially with the improvement of alternative fuel vehicles. We have the hybrid engine car where it has both electric and gasoline engine for better fuel consumption and friendlier to the environment and it’s also suitable for families with kids. However if you are single and looking for something economical to travel within the city, look no further, I highly recommend that you buy an electric scooter.

But just ten percent of the Chinese public is driving or owning a car. What would you think this will do to the environment if all Chinese own one or two cars. Luckily the Chinese government is trying to get people to buy only clean cars and reward it with half the taxes as would be payed normally.
