A Tropical Interior Design Idea Works Well On The Coast

Many of the homes that are on the southern coasts of the United States are decorated with tropical interior design ideas. This idea works well because you can walk outside on the patio and you are literally on the beach or have an ocean view. A tropical interior design idea works well here, specifically because it brings the outside in, and is very relaxing and comfortable.

Bedroom

However, people in many other parts of the country try to use a tropical interior design idea in their bedroom. This design style is normally a reminder of a visit to the Caribbean, Hawaii or a cruise somewhere in the tropics. It is a very relaxed style of design and signifies comfort and serenity; therefore, it works very well in a bedroom. Taking a tropical interior design idea and implementing it in a bedroom is not very difficult. If you incorporate some wicker furniture and silk palm trees, you almost have a complete look. Grass cloth, bamboo window coverings and large, bright tropical fabric for a bed treatment will complement the look very well. Some mosquito netting over the bed, used as canopy, is always fun to do for a tropical interior design idea. Lots of candles also help to accessorize the look. You can paint the walls or use tropical wallpaper, but you must be careful because you want to keep the room serene. If wallpaper is used, be sure to not overdo it with bright patterns and colors. Save your bright patterns for your fabrics on the bed, otherwise your walls will overpower the room and will keep you awake at night. Many of these design looks can be found on interior design software. This software is not only good for color projects, but space planning as well.

Living Room

A tropical interior design idea for the living areas can be achieved with wicker or bamboo furniture. Black rod iron accessories also complement this style of design. Grass cloth coverings on the wall make for a great backdrop, but again you must be careful and make sure your room doesn’t end up looking like a tiki hut. Sisal rugs are always great on the floors of tropical interior design idea rooms. Silk plants and accessories from the tropics round out the tropical look for these rooms. Perhaps you could take a shopping trip to Mexico or a cruise to the Caribbean to look for accessories. Your fabrics should be light and airy and very relaxed. This is a very inviting look and should remind you of steel drums, blue skies and turquoise water.
