Mantra Meditation is a Great Meditation Method For Beginners And Experts Alike

Whether you’re new to meditation or you are a seasoned pro, mantra meditation is a great way to meditate. Mantra meditation involves repeating a word or phrase over and over. This can be done to induce a meditative state, it works to drown out outside distractions, it can be a way of instructing yourself once you’re in your meditative state, and it can also be a great way to keep your mind clear of distracting and destructive thoughts.

What Word Or Phrase?

There is no correct way to practice mantra meditation. As with all forms of meditation, it’s best to do whatever works for you. This type of meditation can involve a simple word, such as the popular OM sound, or it can be an entire phrase. An example of this type of mantra meditation is to repeat the words, “I am calm and relaxed,” over and over. This not only serves to relax you but it induces your meditative state and can be more effective than simply remaining silent.

Outside Noise And Distractions

When you practice mantra meditation, you are effectively drowning out outside distractions. Things like the lawn mower buzzing outside, your neighbor’s dog barking, and even the buzz of traffic from the freeway near your house can break you out of a meditative state and can keep you from making spiritual progress. By practicing mantra meditation, however, you can drown out that noise to focus inwards, instead of outwards.

Mantra meditation can also act to clear your mind. When you focus on the word or words spoken, you are not thinking about what you’re going to eat for dinner, what that person said to you at that party last night, or any other distractions that may fill your head when you least expect it. By practicing mantra meditation, you can focus on the task at hand and you won’t be distracted by any thoughts or stresses that are occurring in your physical reality.

Mantra meditation can also be used to instruct you once you’re in the meditative state. By repeating these instructions, you can remind yourself of your goals while meditating. Maybe your goal is to relax in certain situations, or maybe it’s to ask questions of your spiritual being. It may even be your goal to find your true purpose in this life. Whatever your goals, by repeating them during mantra meditation, you are more likely to realize them if you keep your mind focused on them throughout the meditation process.

Remember, mantra meditation is just one form of meditation. Again, do whatever works and soon you’ll get to know your spiritual self, which is seriously lacking in many people during these trying times in which we live.
