One of the most important aspects of photography is the lighting.That is why photographers spend much money on lighting equipments.Proper lighting makes the difference between a great shot and a bad shot. With the importance of lighting here are some tips to watch out for in regards to lighting.
First of all sometimes you don’t have the luxury of lighting in a studio. Take weddings for example. Usually you will have to work with the natural lighting. As a San Diego wedding photographer I have to deal with this all the time. But it isn’t a bad thing.What determines a great photographer from a mediocre one is how they utilize the lighting.An example would be overcast days when it is great to take outdoor shots.But if the day is sunny then make sure that the light is not against the shot.That way you can utilize the sun and give you a great shot and not ruin it.
Events are another thing that would need lighting. Doing a lot of San Diego event photography has allowed me to see the importance of this.Especially if you would have to take pictures during the night.Utilizing one’s camera’s features is a must if you have to take pictures at night.Use your camera’s night features because almost all, if not all, cameras have night mode nowadays.
Another key lighting issue is when you are taking corporate shots. Usually when you are taking commercial shots you are going to want to take crisp photos. The best way to do that is to use artificial lighting. I use artificial lighting all the time as a San Diego commercial photographer all the time.This is dissimilar to wedding photos where you would just usually use the natural lighting. The advantage of these coporate shots is everything is staged so you can set up better.
So those are some of the tips about lighting in photography. Remember how important lighting is and you will take great shots.
