Keeping Your Electric Power Tools Safe
March 30th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedWhen it comes to tools, one may say that they can never have enough and they would probably be right. As it seems, there are tools that grow legs and walk off leaving you with a small supply of much needed tools. Actually, we know that these tools do not actually walk away but it is amazing how things such as hammers and nails seem to go missing just like those individual socks out of the dryer.
While hammers and nails may not be that much money to replace, electric power tools are a different story as these tools can be several hundred or even several thousands of dollars. So when you invest in such high quality electric power tools, you want to make sure that you have a safe place to bring them home to. Leaving something just sitting on a shelf here and then on a shelf there is a recipe for missing tools. Instead take money and buy a nice storage unit or tool case that can support the weight and size of all of your electric power tools and other types of tools.
Protecting Investments
Some people have no problem with lending their electric power tools out to whoever asks to borrow them. But unless you can know for sure that the person borrowing your electric power tools is going to actually return them, you may want to rethink it all. There is no need to spend all of that money if you are not that concerned about having them stolen or lost. Not that your friend would ruin your tools on purpose, but you never know what will happen as accidents and mistakes do happen, even to those who are careful.
If you insist on allowing everyone to borrow your electric power tools, make sure that they give them back in a timely fashion. This is only because you never know when a repair is going to come up at home and when you go to look for that one tool that can help you, you will find it. To need that drill right away and then realize that you let someone borrow it a few months back is not going to be a fun experience. If the people you are lending your electric power tools to cannot understand why you want to protect their value, they will not understand why they should keep good care of your stuff.
