If you are one of the millions of folks who frequently rotate their work shifts and are in effect working when their body wants to sleep, you may find that you feel more and more sleepy during your night work shifts and unable to sleep during the daytime although you may feel very tired. These symptoms of sleepiness and insomnia are a complaint called shift work sleep disorder, which can in addition, bring on several other health related problems such as regular headaches, having trouble focusing and no energy. Read on for some pointers on what you can do to ease the symptoms of SWSD.

The most obvious cure is to try to change your work schedule to hours that are more sociable. By working at night, you are confusing your body’s internal clock, termed the circadian rhythm, which regulates itself with the rising and setting of the sun to recognize when it is time to wake and sleep respectively. Shift work forces your body into an unnatural state of working when it should be asleep and sleeping when it would normally be awake. This is the reason that you feel sleepy during the night and then cannot fall asleep during the day although you are very tired. Consequently, if possible, it is in your best interests to have a chat with your work supervisor to see if shift changes can be made.

Sleep Apnea Snoring Treatment Choices

Sleep apnea treatment options for lesser cases of sleep apnea involve self-help and behavioral changes. They include reducing weight, the cessation of drinking, quitting smoking, stopping taking sleeping pills, sleeping on your side, and maintaining regular sleep hours.

For more critical cases of sleep apnea, these self-help options are not appropriate. Several other sleep apnea treatments are available. These include:

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP):

The most commonly recommended severe sleep apnea treatment is a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine (CPAP). A CPAP machine contributes airway pressure to a person with of sleep apnea. The sleeper wears a mask-breathing device at bedtime. Pressurized air is provided, which the sleeper breathes in, causing an expansion of the airway and stopping apnea episodes and snoring. The CPAP machine supplies constant air pressure regardless of whether the person is taking a breath or expiring.

A CPAP machine is an excellent sleep apnea treatment, but many sufferers have found the breathing mask to be less than comfortable. Thanks to recent improvements, CPAP masks are now more pleasant to wear. Newer CPAP masks come in many styles, allowing sleepers to find the mask that works best for them.

Being chased or attacked or fighting

If you’re always fighting in your dreams, chances are that you’re involved in some kind of fight or conflict at the moment. Keep a note of the creatures, people or things that you fight in your dreams - whether it’s people you recognize, weird creatures, aliens, etc. These could all indicate that you need to work on reducing the amount of conflict happening in your life at the moment.

Nude or naked people

If you are the naked “star” of your dreams, this may mean that you are about to be involved in a scandal.

If the naked people are others, it’s likely that you’re trying to tempt those other people into doing something.

If you suddenly lose all your clothes in a dream and then try to hide your nudity, this could point to an affair or illicit relationship.
