To cure chronic insomnia, you need to know what’s causing it. If you are in terrible pain at night and you can’t sleep, then you’re undoubtedly suffering from chronic pain insomnia. You know the cause, you just need to be treated for it. The reasons for treating chronic pain insomnia are both obvious and important. First of all, who wants to be in pain all night long? Secondly, if you can’t sleep you’re only harming yourself. When you can’t get adequate sleep, whether it’s because of chronic pain insomnia or some other form of chronic insomnia, your memory becomes shot, you feel tired all the time, you can’t concentrate and it really makes life hard. So do all you can to get treated for chronic pain insomnia and get that treatment as soon as you can.

What Ails You?

You know what hurts, you know what’s keeping you up at night; you just might not know why. It’s important to find out why you have chronic pain insomnia if you don’t already know. For example, if you were hurt in a motorcycle accident many years ago and your legs have hurt you ever since then, and this is what is keeping you up all night; you have all you need to get help. On the other hand, if your leg is hurting and keeping you up all night with chronic pain insomnia, and you have no idea why, then it’s absolutely imperative that you seek help immediately.

Visit Your Doctor

Unlike other forms of chronic insomnia, it’s the pain that’s keeping you awake. So, that means that you can use either your normal doctor or a sleep specialist, who knows specifically how to cure chronic insomnia. Your normal doctor will be able to help you out with the pain so that you can sleep at night. A sleep specialist might also be able to help you with the pain but he or she might also find some other underlying reason why you’re not getting the adequate rest you need. It’s up to you, or you might want to see both; that way you can be sure to get everything taken care of so that you no longer have this chronic pain insomnia problem.

Pain Medication

You might have to go through physical therapy but more than likely you’ll just get prescribed a pain medication to help ease the suffering of the pain that’s keeping you up at night. Just be careful as some of this pain medication can be addictive. What you want to do is take the medication until the pain goes away, so that you can sleep at night, and then stop taking it when you no longer need it.
