More and more people are booking their vacations and doing the research online and travel agents are seeing less people walking through their doors. It is not only because you can book your vacation form the comfort of you home but generally, it will be less expensive as well. I still like using a travel agent as it is nice to speak to someone face to face but I still go online to research the place I am traveling to.
The internet is ideal for this and it I amazing just how much you can learn from it; I am even able to know how much it will cost before I see my travel agent. I think that these people are undervalued as they need to have a good knowledge of each country and can be very helpful when you have questions relating to your trip. They are particularly useful when you intend to travel outside of the United States and can help with any laws that might be relevant to where you’re going.
For instance some place charge a fee to enter their country which isn’t always shown in the brochure or online and they will know this; they may be even able to advise on places to visit. It is the one very clear distinction between using the internet for your travel arrangements and a travel representative; and just how they can help you make the most of your vacation. I can’t help it because I just like dealing with someone face to face and know that there is a certain amount of care involved with my travel arrangements which is something I do not feel the internet caters for. While it is easy and usually cheaper to do all you’re booking online, it is not so helpful when something goes wrong and you have to complain; something the travel agent is there for as well.When my husband and I decided to elope to exchange vows, we called up some travel agents and one in particular, seemed to be exactly what we were looking for.
What really made the difference was the way our representative approached the whole wedding arrangements; there was an enthusiasm to the work that was quite infectious, something that I shall never forget. She gave us some educated guesses about pricing without even checking anything officially and I asked tons of questions but she was incredibly patient with me.S. so all we had to do was book the vacation. I’m also a fan of travel agents over using the internet because if you end up booking the vacation from hell, you have no one to blame but yourself whereas if you used a travel agency, at least you’ll have someone to complain too.
