The King Of Spain Is More Than A Figurehead

The current King of Spain, Juan Carlos I, is the dominant figure in his European country. Although devoted to his country, the current King of Spain was born in Italy where his family lived in exile. When the dictator, Francisco Franco, died, the current King of Spain was given his title. The current King of Spain guided his country from the rule of the dictator to make it an important and democratic country. The current King of Spain reigns over a democratic country that is also a constitutional monarchy. King Juan Carlos is widely respected by the people of Spain.

The King of Spain has other titles besides the one that makes him the constitutional monarch of Spain. He is also known as the King of Jerusalem. The King of Spain is related to the monarchs of the United Kingdom as a descendant of the late Queen Victoria. Although the current King of Spain began his life in Italy, he moved to Spain as a youngster and was educated in his own country for most of his life. The King of Spain worked for a time with the navy and air force of his country as a young man. King Juan Carlos has a university diploma from a school in Spain.

The King Of Spain Has A Distinguished Career

Juan Carlos I, the King of Spain, was groomed through education and lifestyle to become a leader of his country, and he has been most successful in this endeavor by all accounts. Most people regard the successful transition from dictatorship to a democratic constitutional monarchy as the result of the efficient and effective reign of Juan Carlos I. The current King has reigned during a time when Spain has become a powerful part of the European Union. Juan Carlos I is the descendant of many other European monarchs. The King is a descendant of kings from France and England which are now also part of the modern European Union.

The role of the King is unique because he reigns but does not rule his country. Although the King does not have any real power to rule the country, he is an important figurehead for the people of Spain. The King provides a symbol of unity for all of the people of the country. King Juan Carlos I is married to Queen Sophia who comes from the royal family of Greece. His son Felipe is in line to succeed him as the next king.
