Top Tips on Applying Makeup

To create a beautiful result with makeup, you need a combination of three elements: high quality products like Elizabeth Arden makeup, a skin care regime, healthy skin as a solid foundation, and the proper makeup tools and application procedures.
After you know the fundamentals, feel free to spice things up a bit with variations to meet the current trend or your own personal preferences.
So let’s begin with the basic guidelines for makeup application.
1. First Step, Clean Your Face
Prior to applying any makeup products, you need to clean your face to ensure healthy skin and provide a fresh canvas for your makeup. Use a high-quality cleansing product to gently remove dirt and oil from your facial skin, using a fresh cotton pad and soft circular motions. Rinse your skin with warm water and repeat until your face feels clean and fresh.
2. Shape Your Eyebrows
Pluck any stray eyebrows from outside of your desired eyebrow line, plucking in the direction in which they grow naturally. Shape your brows so they form a slight natural arch. Simply grasp the base of each hair with a tweezers that has an angled edge and tug gently.
3. Apply A Matching Shade Of Foundation
Selection of the right shade of foundation is critical to achieving a natural flawless look that will enhance rather than detract from your beauty. When properly applied, foundation should be barely noticeable to the naked eye, serving to minimize the appearance of any facial blemishes. You need to select a foundation color that matches your natural skin tones and smoothes out any discrepancies or variances in your facial skin to provide an even color. Use a small makeup sponge to dot foundation on your nose, forehead, cheeks, and chin. Starting with the nose, gently blend and feather the foundation and work outward. Foundation should end and blend near the jaw line with no visible makeup line.
4. How To Apply Foundation
Select a transparent powder that matches your skin and foundation-or use a powder that gives a hint of glow rather than a flat matte finish. Using a big powder brush, apply powder lightly all over your face to help set your foundation, brushing away any loose powder for a flawless finish. Pay extra attention to-and start with-the T-zone (nose, chin, and forehead), working outward.
5. How To Apply Blusher
For a natural healthy glow, add a little blusher to the apples of your cheeks. To find the “apples,” simply smile at yourself in the mirror. The “apples” will be the parts of your cheeks that pop up. Blend blusher carefully, feathering it into the hairline. Use a natural color for daytime and a little bit deeper color of blusher for nighttime.
6. Give Your Eyes Definition
Select a soft eyebrow pencil that matches your natural eyebrow color or a slightly darker shade. Softly apply short light strokes of the pencil to feather in spaces in your brows, shape them subtly, and make them appear fuller. Add a soft color of eyeshadow to your upper eyelid using a soft small brush and gently blend it into the crease of your eyelid and slightly beyond. Make sure there are no obvious lines where the color appears painted on.
7. How To Apply Eyeliner
Using eyeliner-most often black or brown-apply short gentle strokes to fill in the lash line on the upper lids. Start near the nose and move outward, using a bit thicker line at the outside edges to make eyes really pop. For the lower lashes, start at the outside of the eye and work inward.
8. How To Apply Mascara
Using a brown or black mascara (to match your eyeliner), apply mascara using a “loaded” mascara wand. Sweep upward gently from below to apply mascara to the upper eyelashes, holding the wand parallel to the eye. If necessary, an eyelash comb can be used to separate any clumps. For the lower lashes, use a soft side-to-side sweeping motion to subtly define the lashes. If desired, you can curl your upper lashes with an eyelash curler prior to applying mascara.
9. Define Your Lips
Last, use a lip liner to trace the outline of your lips-beginning at the center of your lips and working out to the corners of your mouth. Then fill in with a matching shade of lipstick. Gently rub lips together, blot excess, and check your teeth for any lipstick smears. Use lighter colors for daytime and deeper colors for nighttime and dim lighting.
