American Idol Open Auditions
Friday, December 25th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedYou may think that if you get an American Idol audition, you get to perform in front of the judges you see on TV: Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson. But this is not true at all. I’ll show you what the process in an American Idol casting call is all about. Keep on reading this article to find out.
Fill out this quick form and get a current list of American Idol casting calls.
It has been already 9 seasons of American Idol and there will be more coming. That means there will more auditions for American Idol coming up. When you watch an episode of American Idol about the auditions, they glamourize the whole thing and it doesn’t really work that way.
The reality is that you are in line with other candidates for hours and hours until you see the casting directors. You don’t even get a chance to audition in front of a camera or in front of celebrity judges. What happens is that you have to past this milestone before you can see the celebrity judges you see on TV during an American Idol episode. Next the casting directors will pick you based on how you look and if you sing good. The casting directors will also purposely pick people that suck so that the public can laugh at them on national television. It’s really tough because even people who can sing really well may not make it to the next round. The truth of the matter is that if you aren’t white, attractive, and marketable, you won’t make it. — Even if you are the best singer out there. That’s the harsh reality, but it’s their show and they can choose whomever that want to.
This is not to sway you away from auditioning, this is just looking at the past people that casting directors have chosen. Here’s a perfect example. Remember William Hung with that song “She Bangs?” Although the casting directors knew he was horrible, they also knew that they could use him for ratings. It didn’t matter that he was the laughing stock of the whole nation for a week. All that mattered to the casting directors was getting viewers and getting Nielson ratings.
A very tiny percentage of all candidates get to really perform in front of the judges you see on TV. I’m not trying to turn you away from auditioning, but instead make you desire it more.
Star in your own song and find auditions for music videos.
The best piece of advice I can give you is to never give up. Good luck!
