Enjoy The Sweet (and Bitter) Truth About Paris Hilton
Saturday, November 14th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedWe watch celebrities like Paris Hilton in awe. “What would I feel like in her position?” we wonder. “What if I was so rich I didn’t know what to do with my money, I didn’t have to go to work and everyone was watching my every move?” It’s with this fascination that we soak up celebrity news. We watch love stories of the rich and famous play out, we look to see what the celebrities are wearing and we wonder if there is some unsightly blemish on their facades of perfection. Perhaps it seems a bit cruel… or maybe it’s all part of the American way.
The story of unrequited love is something that we just can’t seem to get enough of these days. Paris Hilton’s broken love life has long been publicized. Her first engagement lasted from mid-2002 to early 2003, when she was hooked-up with fashion model Jason Shaw. From 2003 to 2004, celeb news was watching her relationship with pop star, Nick Carter. From May to November 2005, she had another engagement to Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis. In 2006, she dated Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos III. By 2008, she was seeing Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden, whom she claimed she would marry. In February 2009, she began dating The Hills star Doug Reinhardt, also indicating that he would be her husband. After a June split, she’s currently out on the prowl again.
Similar to Paris Hilton’s relationship drama, Jennifer Aniston has had her fair share. She’s dated Charlie Schlatter (her Ferris Bueller costar) in 1990, Daniel MacDonald from 1991 to 1994, Counting Crows’ singer Adam Duritz in 1995 and she was engaged to actor Tate Donovan, who she dated from 1995 to 1998. That same year, she began dating Brad Pitt, who she married in July of 2000. They split in January of 2005 and he was quick to rebound with Angelina Jolie, much to Jen’s chagrin. Though her divorce was upsetting, she dated costar Vince Vaughn, male model Paul Sculfor and singer John Mayer. Like Paris, she’s also “out on the prowl” and some think she’s set her sights on Scottish costar Gerard Butler, who is frankly getting sick of the rumors.
Does Paris Hilton intentionally seek out the spotlight, even with embarrassing moments like slipping out of clothes at nightclubs, shouting at paparazzi and fighting with friend Nicole Richie? Or does she deserve our sympathy for the privacy invasion that celebrity news, gossips and the paparazzi have created? It’s hard to say she doesn’t love the attention when she says things like “My people handle my schedule. I’m a brand, I’m a businesswoman. I have 13 different product lines.” Yet there must come a time where celebrities like Angelina, Jennifer and even Paris crack under pressure. There must be times when they just want to get away from the cameras, the rumors and the intense public scrutiny. Perhaps these celebrities do deserve some of our sympathy… even if they are rich and famous.
