The Sky Box

The original digital box that Sky do is the standard digital box. This standard digital box will allow you access to all the Sky programmes (except high definition programmes) and all the basic interactive services.

Sky Plus

The second digibox that Sky do is the Sky+ box. The Sky Plus box is a digital box that comes with a hard drive so you can tape your regular Sky programs with the touch of a button. The service is fantastic and allows you to not only record programs and set the box to tape a whole set of episodes with the press of a remote. The digibox offers the facility to record two programs at once too so you will never have to choose to watch and record what you like. The recording service is free providing you subscribe to a subscription TV package, alternatively you will incur a £10 monthly cost. The receiver itself can be acquired free of charge via various refer a customer offers but otherwise is priced at £99 depending on the available offers.

Sky High Definition

The final Sky receiver available is the Sky HD Plus digital box. The Sky high definition digibox is very the same as the Sky+ receiver but features component and HDMI outputs that can be used with Sky or 3rd party High Definition channels. This high definition digibox is by far the most advanced available and costs ten pounds monthly for the HD channels (called the HD mix) but it is also by a mile the greatest image and sound quality available if you have an HD television.

In summary, you will need to decide what suits you, your viewing habits and your budget best.
