Why Are Vans In Cartoons? (Part 1)

Many cartoons actually feature vans within in them and millions of people actually tune in to watch some of them which is quite remarkable really. Some of which are past jewels that have not really seen any real success in a long while and of course some of them are just simply made for the kids. Here are the ones that came into my head first.

The Famous Mystery Machine

This has to be the top van out of all of the cartoon vans. In terms of putting a van inside a cartoon this is the one that really kicked it off. All of this kicked off in 1969 with the original series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! The show is of course still running and apprently the need for teenage mystery solving gangs has not fallen at all in the forty years. The monster nearly always turns out to be a human in disguise. I wonder if they have that van on Van lease

Postman Pat’s Van

This is more of a stop-motion feature than a cartoon but it has to be mentioned as it is certainly the most famous van to be made by somebody here in Britain It was first screened in 1981 and a newer series was made for 2006. It is really aimed at the pre-school children and I can proudly say I used to watch these over and over again when I was younger. One of the best things about Postman Pat is that he is actually able to deliver all of his post on time even when helping various people out!

Cheap vehicle contracts is something that these toons must have had in mind when purchasing these vans.
